Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018
Team members of Watson Moore took part in their first Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 28th September 2018. The team took to their kitchens at home to bake some sweet masterpieces and on the morning they worked with colleagues from local solicitor’s firm ‘Pinney Talfourd’ to raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Research.
Team members asked for donations from anyone who enjoyed a slice of their cake, and also held a raffle (with the cuddly teddy bear being one of the most sought-after prizes) and even had their own ‘Best Baker’ competition, where the solicitor’s scored their cakes out of ten.
“It was a fantastic morning and we were so pleased that everyone had lots of fun… and lots of cake” explains Chris from Watson Moore, “we were really happy when we raised £215.59 from our efforts, which Watson Moore then matched to give us a fantastic total of £431.18 for Macmillan Cancer Research that morning.”
The team all baked fantastically, but it was Mella’s Honeycomb Cheesecake that won her the title of ‘Best Baker’, along with her very own Macmillan ‘Born to Bake’ badge. The rest of the team didn’t do too badly either:
❖ Megan baked a delicious Chocolate Marble Cake.
❖ Rebecca proved you didn’t have to include sponge with her Key Lime Pie.
❖ Chris pulled out all the stops with his classic Victoria Sponge.
❖ Jon was ‘buzzing’ with his Coffee and Walnut cake.
❖ Dan tempted everyone’s taste buds with his tropical Pineapple and Blueberry Upside Down Cake.
“I fully intend to defend my title as ‘Best Baker’ next year” said Mella. When asked how her colleagues should feel about the prospect of facing her again next year Mella added “They should be very afraid!”
